About the Doge meme
Doge is Kabosu, a Shiba Inu adopted by Japanese kindergarten teacher Atsuko Sato, photographed in 2010 sitting on a sofa and looking sideways at the camera with raised eyebrows. In 2013 the photo became a meme captioned with scattered, colourful Comic Sans phrases in broken English — “such wow”, “much amaze”, “very skill” — written as the dog's inner monologue. It also inspired Dogecoin later that year. Kabosu died in May 2024 and is remembered as one of the internet's best-loved animals.
The writing style is the meme: two-word phrases built from “such”, “much”, “very”, “so”, “many” plus a noun or adjective that doesn't grammatically fit, ending with “wow”.
