:)AI Meme Maker

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 August 2026

AI Meme Maker is a free meme generator. We designed it to work without accounts, so we collect as little as possible. This page explains exactly what happens to your data.

What we collect

  • Your meme prompt and settings. When you click Generate, the text you typed (plus style, spice, audience, language and template choice) is sent to our server and then to a third-party AI provider to write the captions. We do not store prompts in a database. Server logs may retain error messages for a short time for debugging.
  • Your IP address, used only to rate-limit abuse of the generator. If a rate-limit service is configured, hashed request counters are stored for up to 24 hours.
  • Basic usage data (pages visited, browser type, approximate country, and product events such as “generated”, “downloaded” and “shared” — never the prompt text or the image) via PostHog, configured cookie-less with session recording off. It honours the Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control browser signals. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
  • Your email address, only if you subscribe to the Meme Monday newsletter. It is stored by our newsletter provider (Kit) with the page you subscribed from, used solely to send that newsletter, and deleted when you unsubscribe (one-click link in every email).

What we do not collect

  • No account or password is required or stored; the generator never asks for an email.
  • The memes you render are created in your browser. Unless you explicitly share or upload one, it never leaves your device.
  • We do not sell or rent any data.

AI providers

Caption generation is performed by a large-language-model provider — normally OpenAI (API), with Cloudflare Workers AI, Groq, Google Gemini and OpenRouter as fallbacks if it is unavailable. Your prompt and your chosen settings (tone, audience, language) are transmitted to the provider that handles the request; the template image is not. Each provider processes prompts under its own terms: OpenAI states that API inputs are not used to train its models; some free tiers of the fallback providers may use inputs to improve their services. Do not include personal or confidential information in prompts.

Cookies and local storage

We do not set tracking cookies. Your browser's local storage is used to remember your recent memes, theme preference, whether you dismissed the newsletter prompt, and an anonymous analytics identifier — all on your own device; you can clear it at any time from your browser settings.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Your rights

Because we hold almost no personal data, there is usually nothing to export or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, email hello@aimememaker.co and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes

We will update this page if our practices change and update the date above.
