Top 10 Meme Templates of 2026
The ten formats that still carry most of the internet's jokes, what each one is actually for, and a real example of each made with the generator.
New formats appear every month and most are gone by the next. The ten below are the ones people keep coming back to, because each one encodes a specific kind of joke: a choice, an escalation, a bad decision, a denial. If you know what a template is for, the caption almost writes itself.

1. Drake Hotline Bling
The joke: rejecting the sensible option, approving the one you were always going to pick. Two panels, top is "no", bottom is "yes". It works because the second line is a confession.
Write it: put the responsible thing on top and the thing you actually do on the bottom. The closer the two are in wording, the funnier the gap.

The joke: loyalty versus temptation, with a third party watching. Three labels: the thing you should be paying attention to, you, and the shiny thing.
Write it: the labels are the whole caption, so keep each one to a few words. It lands hardest when the "girlfriend" is something you have already committed to.

The joke: two options that should be easy to choose between, and a man sweating over them anyway. The sweat is the punchline.
Write it: make both buttons reasonable on their own. The third line, on the sweating man, is optional and works best as a description of your situation rather than a third option.

The joke: escalation. Four panels, each brain glowing brighter, each idea more "enlightened". Played straight it ranks ideas; played ironically the top tier is the dumbest.
Write it: decide first whether the top panel is genuinely the best or the worst option, and keep the direction consistent. Four short lines, roughly the same length.

The joke: a mild opinion delivered as if it were a bold stand. One line on the sign, the man at the table daring you to argue.
Write it: one sentence, stated as fact. The more obviously true or trivially small the claim, the better the format works.

The joke: confident misidentification. A character labelled as someone, a butterfly labelled as something, and the question "is this a ...?" getting it wrong.
Write it: three labels. Who is looking, what they are looking at, and the wrong conclusion phrased as a question.

The joke: outrage on the left, total indifference on the right. Two lines: the accusation and the cat's reply.
Write it: the cat's line should be short and calm. The mismatch in energy between the two halves is the whole thing.

The joke: a small smile in front of a fire she probably started. Cause on top, consequence on the bottom, and no remorse anywhere.
Write it: the top line is what happened, the bottom line is her attitude about it. First person works well.

The joke: denial. A dog in a burning room says it is fine. Optional top line describing the fire, bottom line "this is fine" or a variation.
Write it: describe the fire precisely and leave the reassurance short. Most of the time you only need the top line.

The joke: a loophole presented as wisdom. "Can't fail the test if you don't take it." Two lines: the problem you are avoiding, the terrible logic that avoids it.
Write it: "can't X if you never Y" is the classic shape, but any confident non-solution works.
