How to make meme text as a PNG
- 1
Type the text
One line or several; press Enter where you want a line break. Capitals are on by default, the way classic memes look.
- 2
Pick colour and size
White with a black outline is the meme standard. Yellow reads like a subtitle. Black text gets a white outline so it still shows on dark photos.
- 3
Choose a background
Transparent for laying over a photo or video. White or black if the app you paste into doesn't handle transparency.
- 4
Download or copy
The PNG is cropped to the text, so it drops straight into Canva, CapCut, Photoshop, Google Slides or a chat.
What you get
Three images made with the same font, outline width and line spacing as the tool above.
Transparent
The default: white Impact, black outline, nothing behind it. The checkerboard is only there to show the see-through pixels.
Laid over a photo
Two lines made separately and placed at the top and bottom of a picture: the classic layout, on any photo you like.
Yellow on black
Yellow with the outline, on a black background, for video subtitles and title cards.
Where a text-only PNG helps
- Video editors. CapCut, Premiere and phone editors that don't have Impact, or don't do a proper outline. Drop the PNG on the clip as an overlay.
- Slides. Google Slides has no outline option for text; an image keeps it, and keeps the font on computers that don't have Impact.
- Phones without Impact. Android has no Impact, so typing meme text there gives you a different font. The PNG looks the same everywhere.
- Stickers and reactions. A transparent caption works as a sticker in chats that accept PNGs.

Questions
What font is the meme font?
Impact: a heavy, condensed sans-serif from 1965 that ships with Windows and macOS. Meme text is Impact in white, in capitals, with a black outline. The meme font page covers the history and alternatives.
Why does it say Anton instead of Impact on my phone?
Android, Linux and ChromeOS don't include Impact, and its licence doesn't allow websites to hand it out, so a web page can only use it if your device already has it. Anton is a free font (SIL Open Font License) drawn in the same style; at meme size most people can't tell them apart.
Is the background really transparent?
Yes. The PNG has an alpha channel, so only the letters and their outline are visible when you place it over something else. Pick White or Black if the app you're using shows transparent pixels as black or white anyway.
Can I use the PNG commercially?
The image you download is yours to use. The font is a separate question: Impact is licensed with Windows and macOS for use on those systems, and text you render with it is generally fine to publish, but check your own licence for large commercial uses. Anton has no such limits.
How big is the image?
The PNG is cropped to the text plus the outline. At L size a short line is roughly 1,000 pixels wide, enough for a 1080p video frame. For bigger, use L and scale it down where you place it rather than up.
Is it free? Is there a watermark?
Free, no account, no watermark, no limit. Nothing on this page uses AI. If you want the AI to write the text, the caption generator does that.
